Thanks for starting my day off with a laugh.evilganomehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04867509470546509687noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27822310.post-72007051802723962842007-01-25T10:05:00.000-06:002007-01-25T10:05:00.000-06:00I'm in hysterics. You've made my day.

I think I phrased my questions incorrectly: I wasn't asking the questions in a serious way; I was asking b/c I know I'd CONSTANTLY be setting up any wee one of mine to say the word "stick" at least 300x a day. I feel hugely relieved to find out that I wouldn't be alone! :-)

And I have to say, I am seriously impressed by how politely she asked dh for his stick. Your kids sound absolutely gorgeous - but then, the apple doesn't fall far, eh?

IxxPragmatic Mystic https://www.blogger.com/profile/08877990361303745003noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27822310.post-89508658609643956472007-01-25T08:19:00.000-06:002007-01-25T08:19:00.000-06:00Avoid it? Why on earth would we avoid it? :-)
T...Avoid it? Why on earth would we avoid it? :-)

The first time she said it, we rolled with laughter. Then we made her say it again and again. I had her repeat, "Speak softly and carry a big stick," at least 3 or 4 times. :-)

We realize that with speech acquisition, though, the person with the "impedement" (don't really like that 'cause it's not really. It's just normal development. The "th" and "st" sounds are some of the last ones kids can master) typically doesn't hear the mistake. We've tried repeating it back to her as we hear it and she continually tries to correct us (even though she STILL pronounces it exactly the same way we say it).

We do so try hard to be understanding, but come on, that's pretty funny. :-)Reizahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07411331845012114174noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27822310.post-52939424315520047062007-01-25T04:51:00.000-06:002007-01-25T04:51:00.000-06:00HOW do you avoid setting up situations for her to ...HOW do you avoid setting up situations for her to use the word 'stick'? And how did you manage not to say, "You want daddy's *what*, sweetie?"

I'm sitting at work laughing; people must think I'm MAD. Truth in advertising then...

IxxPragmatic Mystic https://www.blogger.com/profile/08877990361303745003noreply@blogger.com
